History

El Bierzo has always been a place where cultures mix. Founded in the nearby city of León by the Romans as a camp for one of their legions, the gold mines of Las Médulas and the Ruta de la Plata give the city of Ponferrada the great medical knowledge of Greek and Roman culture. 

In the Middle Ages, a time of epic and religion, the Camino de Santiago takes shape, which crosses all of Christian Europe and which makes Ponferrada one of its main stops.

In the year 1178, the Templars, great connoisseurs of science and medicine, settled in Ponferrada and built a fortress to protect and heal the pilgrims. 

Thousands of pilgrims have crossed El Bierzo, walking the Camino for centuries, with great faith and knowledge of medicinal plants.

All that knowledge and that tradition in the use of Medicinal Plants have served as the germ of our company.

In 1998, bio3 was born, within the Biodes group (now bio3 España), with the mission of developing a new line of products for Self-Care of Health.
